Sunset over the River

After a day of wandering around, I found myself by the ferry terminal on the south side of Lisbon, watching the sun slowly set over the water. In the beginning, I was just hoping to find a wide-open spot nearby to capture this long-missed sight of a sunset over the river. But as I shifted myself around for the perfect angle, I unintentionally noticed this:
No matter where I stood, the sinking sun cast a shiny path of light across the rippling water,
and somehow, that glowing trail always stretched straight toward me, as if reaching out across the river just to meet my gaze.
Needless to say, I know this is just yet another magic of light called physics of reflection.
Though, I just can’t help thinking, isn’t this just like an inverse shadow of mine?
Unlike the shadow hiding behind my back,
the inverse always stands in my front, shimmering golden bright light, silently and steadily, connecting me to the burning fireball over the broad horizon.
The photo was taken here. If you happen to come to Lisbon, I would recommend taking the 15-min ferry to Cacilhas near the dusk, and waiting for the sunset view yourself. If you plan on doing so, I hope you get a good weather accompanying you as well.
